Sound Monitor is a GNOME panel applet, it displays the current Volume output of the Esound daemon, also, optionally shows the Esound status: Off(error), Standby, Ready. The esound server information can be displayed, the balance and volume can be also be adjusted for streams and samples. An extra program, esdpvd is included that will allow saving of stream volumes between sessions.

The current GNOME 1.4 version is 1.9.1 - May 5, 2002

The current GNOME 2 version is 1.99.0 - February 15, 2003

Requires:

  • GNOME 1.4.x or 2.x. (make sure to get the appropriate package)

The GNOME 1.4 packages are versions 1.9.1 and below. The rpm for these were created on a RedHat 7.2 system, and can be installed without conflict beside the gnome-applets package. These binaries have been renamed sound-monitor2 to avoid installation conflict with the standard GNOME 1.4 version.

The GNOME 2.x packages are versions 1.99.0 and above, and should work with both GNOME 2.0 and 2.2. The rpm version is built on a RedHat 8.0 system, and has been named back to sound-monitor (no 2). The GNOME 2 version has issues with some themes when the panel background is set to an image or transparent.
